sheer tools

Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of sheer tools, run by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("we"). Using the site means you accept them. If you do not, please do not use it.

What this is

A set of free browser tools and written courses for people running small businesses. Everything here is free to use, and the tools need no account. An account exists only so we can keep track of you across devices where a feature needs it.

We may add, change or remove tools at any time. Nothing here is promised to stay available.

What you can do with what it produces

Names, taglines and offer lines are yours. We claim no ownership of anything you generate, and you may use it commercially without crediting us.

But generated output is not cleared for use. A name the generator produces may already be a registered trademark, a trading name, or someone else's brand in your market. We do not check any of that. Before you commit to a name, search the trademark registers that apply to you and take advice if the stakes justify it. That is your responsibility, not ours.

The generator works by combining word parts, so two people can and will get the same output. Nothing it produces is unique to you.

Domain availability

The .com check is a convenience, not a guarantee. It reflects what the registry reported at the moment we asked, and it can be wrong or out of date:

  • A domain shown as available may be registered before you get to it
  • A domain may be reserved, premium priced, or restricted in ways the check does not reveal
  • The registry can be slow or unreachable, in which case we say so rather than guess

Always confirm with a registrar before making any decision that depends on a domain being free.

The courses

The courses are educational. They are not legal, tax, accounting, financial or employment advice, and no relationship of that kind is created by reading them. They describe what tends to work, drawn from general practice, and your situation may differ. Where a decision carries real consequences, take advice from someone qualified in your jurisdiction.

Accounts

If you create an account:

  • Give an email address you control, and keep your password to yourself
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account
  • Verify your email; unverified accounts cannot sign in
  • Tell us at [CONTACT EMAIL] if you think someone else has access

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • Automate requests against the site, scrape it in bulk, or work around the rate limits
  • Use the domain checker to harvest availability data at scale
  • Try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to any part of it
  • Republish the courses as your own work
  • Use it for anything unlawful, or to produce material that is

The tools are metered so that one person cannot degrade the service for everyone. Trying to defeat that is the clearest way to lose access.

Our content

The courses, the interface and the copy are ours, and are protected by copyright. You may read, quote with attribution, and share links. You may not republish them wholesale or sell them.

No warranty

The site is provided as is. We do not promise it will be available, uninterrupted, accurate, or fit for what you have in mind. It is free, and it is offered on that basis.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost business, lost data, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site. That includes decisions you make on the strength of a generated name, a domain check, or anything said in a course.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes

We may revise these terms. The date below shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and disputes go to the courts of [JURISDICTION].
