How to run Meta ads

Lesson 5 of 8 · 8 min

Creative is the lever

Targeting used to be the skill. It largely is not any more — the systems find the audience if the signal is good. What remains under your control, and what actually separates results, is the creative and the offer inside it.

Test concepts, not colours

Three variations of the same photo teach you almost nothing. Three genuinely different angles teach you which story works:

  • Problem-first: name the frustration in the opening seconds.
  • Proof-first: the result, the number, the before and after.
  • Demonstration: the thing working, plainly, with no production polish.
  • Testimonial: a real customer, in their own words and voice.

What tends to work

  • Native-looking video that does not announce itself as an ad.
  • Motion and a clear hook in the first two seconds, because that is where people leave.
  • Captions, since much of the feed is watched with sound off.
  • Real footage over stock. Lower production value frequently outperforms polished brand film.
  • The offer stated plainly in the creative, not only on the landing page.

Refresh before fatigue bites

Performance decays as frequency rises and your audience has seen it too often. Watch for cost per result climbing while frequency climbs, and have the next creative ready before that happens rather than after.

Copy still matters

The primary text does real work. Lead with the specific problem or the number, keep the first line short enough to survive truncation, and make the call to action concrete.

Try it

Produce three genuinely different creative concepts for your best offer this week — different angles, not different crops — and put them in one ad set to compete.
