SEO for small businesses

A publishing cadence you can keep

The internet is full of business blogs with four posts from one enthusiastic month two years ago. Publishing sporadically achieves nothing; publishing modestly and consistently compounds.

Pick a cadence you can sustain in a bad month

One good page a month for two years is twenty-four assets. Four posts in January and nothing after is nothing. Choose the rate you can maintain when work is busy, because that is the real rate.

Money pages first

Before any blogging, make sure the pages that actually sell are complete and good: services, pricing, locations, comparisons, and the specific problems you solve. Those rank for commercial terms and convert far better than articles. Most businesses skip straight to blogging and never finish the pages that would have paid.

Update before you create

Refreshing an existing page that ranks on the second page is usually faster and more valuable than writing something new. Look for pages with impressions but no clicks, improve them, and republish.

Write what only you can write

Generic advice is infinitely available and nobody needs yours. What competitors cannot copy is your specifics: your prices, your process, your local knowledge, your data, the questions your customers actually ask. That material is also what makes a reader trust you enough to call.

Try it

List your money pages and grade each one honestly. Fix the weakest before writing anything new, then set a realistic publishing date for one page a month.
